Why Bamboo Shield?
Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world, offering tremendous durability and preventing penetration by sharp objects. The material is also antibacterial.
The boots are made of a strong TPU shell with multiple ventilation holes. The tendon area is reinforced with Kentucky's bamboo shield to prevent penetration. Where the horse bends its leg, Kentucky has added a soft natural rubber piece to avoid friction.
The inner part of the boots is reinforced with an extra layer of TPU to maintain high resistance to the wear that occurs when the horse knocks its legs together.
Kentucky has created its own internal test machine that applies a force of 80N onto a horizontal horse leg with a razor-sharp axe. Their bamboo shield demonstrates extremely strong protection that cannot be compared to any real impact a horse may experience during riding.
The boots are also Rico test approved and RCT certified.

The Bamboo Shield boots are made with Kentucky's highly breathable and well-known 3D Spacer lining, used in their popular 3D spacer turnout boots and rugs. They have a robust outer shell made of lightweight yet strong TPU, with an extra bamboo insert at the tendon for optimal protection against impacts and penetration by sharp objects, and are also antibacterial.
Shape and size:
Thanks to the anatomically shaped design, the boots fit nicely around the horse's leg to provide maximum comfort and the best protection. This allows the horse maximum freedom of movement for better jumping. The soft and flexible rubber insert under the joint also gives the horse better comfort in its movements.
Care instructions:
The boots can be machine washed at 30°C (no tumble dryer). We always recommend using a laundry bag to avoid scratches. You can easily use Kentucky's boot cleaner, specially developed for TPU boots, to give the boots the best chance to look like new.
