The Carl Eggbut Trial Bit is designed for the sensitive horse that can still become strong.
With its anatomical shape that follows the mouth and the shape of the tongue, it is appreciated by many horses. The short, flat center piece eliminates contact with the palate and provides a much milder pressure over the tongue, resulting in a more even contact in the mouth. Many horses prefer as little pressure as possible over the tongue. Carl is therefore also suitable for horses with a low palate and thick tongue, as the center plate takes up very little space in the mouth.
Eggbutt (fixed rings) gives the bit more stability and a more direct and precise rein aid. This is usually suitable for horses that are hesitant to take support on the bit, as well as horses with "fleshy" corners of the mouth to reduce the risk of pinching.
The bit is made of titanium, which neither gives taste nor rusts. This is appreciated by many horses as it does not give the sharp metallic taste. The light weight has proven to be very positive, as the horse does not need to hold up the bit with its tongue or bars, which in turn can lead to unnecessary tension.
If your horse fits these descriptions, then the Carl Eggbut Trial Bit is the bit for you:
- Heavy in the hand
- Strong and leans or pulls on the bit
- Sensitive to pressure from the bit
- Does not accept the bit or drops/chews on the bit and is uncomfortable with it
Strength: 7/10
With strength 1-10
1-5 Best for horses that already have communication up to the hand.
Never become heavy in the hand or fall behind the hand.
5-7 Good for horses that occasionally fall onto the forehand, grab onto one side, or drop the contact.
7-8 Same as 5-7, with the addition of horses that can become strong and try to take over the bit from the rider's hand. 8-10 Same as above. Plus horses that can become very strong and evade the aids.
The Fager logo should always be on your horse's right side, with the text facing forward
