When horses sweat a lot or are stressed, they lose large amounts of electrolytes, which contributes to much slower fluid exchange in muscle cells. This, in turn, can lead to weakness and muscle cramps.

It is therefore important to quickly restore the electrolyte balance in the body to help the horse with recovery.
