The 2½-ring bit is the softest version of multi-ring bits because the ½-ring softens the leverage on the mouthpiece and the pressure on the poll.

The double-jointed models are very popular as they are slightly curved and distribute the pressure more evenly over the bars and tongue. The center link is designed in a way that reduces the risk of pinching and prevents it from rising too far into the palate.

Square Twist creates more pressure points and makes it sharper than Round Twist and Smooth. The bit is made of sweet iron and will lose its color over time. Be sure to dry the bit thoroughly after each use to prevent it from rusting and becoming rough.
