A 2.5 ring bit is somewhat milder than a 3 ring bit like a Pessoa. It can be used with leverage. The lower the reins are placed, the sharper the bit becomes. An ideal bit for horses that are somewhat strong or tend to grab the bit. Compared to a 2.5 eggbutt bit, you do not get as quick an effect in the rein aid with loose rings where the bit can move slightly. It can also be used with two reins, placing one on the large ring and one on the lowest half ring.
