The flippan bit is ridden with a rein. The strength can be increased by moving the rein down, which gives more leverage effect. With the rein in the top part of the ring, the leverage disappears and the strength becomes the same as a baucher bit.

The mouthpiece is ideally shaped to adapt to the contour of the mouth. The tongue is relieved by removing some of the constant pressure. The light weight makes it less rigid and increases acceptance.
