Sweden's loveliest equestrian store

Good blood values are one of the prerequisites for the horse to perform optimally on the competition track. The blood is responsible, among other things, for oxygen transport from the lungs to the body's tissues. It is the iron bound in the hemoglobin in the red blood cells that gives the blood its color, and it is the hemoglobin that binds oxygen and transports it in the body. Often, the feed contains a sufficient amount of iron to meet the horse's needs, but the horse may need help absorbing it.

If you need to improve the horse's blood value, you can either add extra iron or add nutrients that facilitate iron absorption from the daily feed and contribute to the formation of new red blood cells. For a hard-training individual, the latter approach is preferable.

Folic acid and vitamin B12 are water-soluble vitamins. Already in the 1940s, evidence was presented on the importance of folic acid for blood formation. Folic acid (Vitamin B9) is needed, among other things, for protein production, for cell metabolism, and for DNA manufacturing. Vitamin B12 is needed, among other things, to form protein, it is important for the heart and nervous system function, as well as for the production of various neurotransmitters and DNA manufacturing. Vitamin B12 and folic acid also work together in the formation of red blood cells. Inulin is a metabolic dietary fiber (prebiotic) that contributes to a healthy gut flora, which is a prerequisite for effective iron absorption.
