About Mips The Mips system is designed to best mimic the head's own safety system. The brain can, in cases where the head is subjected to oblique impacts (rotations), move in the fluid that is in the head and thereby reduce the force that the brain would otherwise be subjected to in the event of a fall or blow. Mips helmets are designed with the same technology in mind, where the integrated low-friction layer on the inside of the helmet is intended to absorb the energy that could otherwise cause brain injuries.
