Felix Sweet Iron Fixed Rings from Fager.
The Felix bit can be used in two different ways, with or without forward locking.
WITH forward locking:
- Difficult to seek forward to the bit.
- Can be on and off in contact.
- Sensitive with pressure over the tongue, may toss the head, make sudden jerky movements, etc.
- Becomes unstable on regular three-piece bits.
WITHOUT forward locking. The locking then becomes backward towards the throat:
- Pulls back and bites on the bit.
- Can lean into the hand and try to take over control.
- Takes no constant or even support.
- Unstable on three-piece bits.
Fager's smart FSS locking (Fager's Smart System). With this technique, the bit locks upwards and forwards to create a bit with limited flexibility. This provides calm to a horse that finds it difficult to trust the bit and seek honest support. The light weight makes it less rigid and increases acceptance. The constant pressure is low and thus more comfortable to wear. Felix is designed to follow the horse's natural shape and provide less constant pressure over the tongue.
