About Mips The Mips system is designed to best imitate the head's own safety system. The brain, in cases where the head is subjected to oblique impacts (rotations), can move in the fluid inside the head, thereby reducing the force that the brain would otherwise be exposed to in the event of a fall or blow. Mips helmets are designed with the same technology in mind, where the integrated low-friction layer inside the helmet is intended to absorb the energy that could otherwise cause injury to the brain.
