The Segundo mouthpiece provides significant tongue relief while maintaining even pressure over the bars and encourages the horse to take a light contact. Generally, it makes it more difficult for the horse to get its tongue over or hang onto the bit.
The eggbutt prevents the horse from being pinched in the lips/corners of the mouth by the bit rings and gives a more stable feel against the face. It also prevents the bit from being pulled through the mouth. The release is somewhat slower and it also applies a little pressure to the poll.
The bit is made of sweet iron and will lose its color over time and become a bit rusty. Be sure to dry the bit thoroughly after each use to prevent excessive rust and roughness.
